Apply with protected address

If you apply with proteced address, all other information will be released to anyone who requests it, in accordance with Sweden’s principle of public access to official documents. The name of the university at which you are admitted can reveal your location.

Who can apply with 'protected address'?

Whether you can choose 'protected address' depends on your circumstances.

No Swedish personal identity number

If you do not have a Swedish personal number, you can apply using Universityadmissions.se. You protect your address yourself by not adding it to your profile/user account.

Swedish personal identity number, and protected data or confidentiality marking

If you have a Swedish personal identity number and protected data or confidentiality marking in the Swedish population register, you can apply using Universityadmissions.se.

Your address will not be transferred from the Swedish population register into the admissions system and is therefore already protected.

If you create a user account using your Swedish personal identity number instead of by using eID, you must send an email to the Protected Personal Data Team to request that we verify your account. This is because we cannot send an activation code to you by regular mail.

Swedish personal identity number, but no protected data or confidentiality marking

If you have a Swedish personal identity number but do not have protected data or confidentiality marking in the Swedish polulation register, you cannot choose “protected address”.

This is because your address is automatically transferred from the Swedish population register to the admissions system when you create a profile/user account.

You can however choose to have full privacy protection

Creating your user account

Consider the following when you create your user account and apply:

  • Add an email address that does not reveal any personal information such as your name.
  • Do not upload or submit documents where your own address or other sensitive information is visible.
  • Adding a postal address is not required. If you want to add an address, choose one that is not your own.

For example, you could choose a box address or the address of a trusted friend or family member. This address is linked to your name and other information in the admissions system, so think carefully about which address you wish to use.

If you have protected data or confidentiality marking in the Swedish population register, and you use the Swedish Tax Agency’s post forwarding service, you can add the following address. Just replace YYMMDD-NNNN with your Swedish personal identity number:

    SKATTEVERKET
    YYMMDD-NNNN, Box 2820
    403 20 GÖTEBORG
