It's difficult to say if and when an applicant on reserve (waiting list) or with a late application will find out if they've been offered a place:

  • universities offer places to people on reserve as they become available. It's impossible to say if places will open in a course or programme as an accepted applicant needs to decline their place for it to be made available.
  • late applicants may be considered if there are still places available after all reserves have been contacted.

After selection, if the university decides to offer you admission, you'll receive an email along with a new Notification of Selection Results. In most cases, the university will be in touch with you directly.

In some cases, you won't hear from the university until after the semester starts.

If you do not wish to keep your place, you should decline your offer. This will remove you from the university's class and contact list for the course and make the space available to other interested applicants.

If you wish to keep your place, you do not need to reply to your offer. All contact from this point on should be directly between you and your university.

If you applied to the First round

If you don't wish to accept your place, you should decline it here at Universityadmissions.se. This is important as it notifies the university that you won't be attending and also makes the place free for someone on the waiting list.

If you applied to the Second round

If it's after the first selection

If you´ve applied for a course and/or programme, you indicate that you do not wish to accept any places you´ve been offered by answering ‘No’ to them on the 'Application' page with your admissions results.

If it's after the second selection

If you don't wish to keep your place after the second selection, it's important that you decline your offer. This will make the place available for other interested applicants.

You can decline your offer in the 'Application' area of your account here at Universityadmissions.se.

If you've applied to the Second round, you'll receive a second notification with your admissions results.  If you have a place on a waiting list (reserve), it's possible you may still be admitted.  This depends on if accepted students decline their place. If a place opens and it is then offered to you, you'll receive an email from University Admissions and a new Notification of Selection Results.

In most cases, your university will contact you themselves about the place. It can happen that some universities will not contact you about reserve places until after the semester starts.

We are unfortunately unable to answer questions regarding your chances. We thank you for your patience.

If you applied to the Second round

If you applied to the First round

Applicants to the First round do not need to reply to their admissions offer on Universityadmissions.se. It's quite possible, however, that the university where you've been accepted may have a deadline for you to accept your place.

If you decide you don't wish to attend the course/programme, It's important to decline that place. This will alert the university that you won't be attending and free up the space for people on the waiting list.

If you applied in the First round

If you applied to the First round, you're not required to reply to your admissions offer here on Universityadmissions.se. However, please note that the university that you've been accepted to may require you to reply to them. Be sure to follow any instructions given to you by your university.

We hope that you'll choose to study in Sweden! However, if you decide not to accept the place you've been offered, please be sure to decline it here on Universityadmissions.se. In that way, you let the university know you won't be attending and free up the place for someone on the waiting list.

If you applied to the Second round

Yes, you can answer yes to more than one. There are a few ways you can do this:

  • If you reply 'Yes' to both the reserve and admitted selections, you will hold your admitted place for the second selection and then be considered again for a place in the programme in which you've been placed on reserve. If you are offered a place in the reserve programme, the other programme will be deleted. If you are not offered a place in the reserve programme, you will still have a place in the lower ranked programme you were admitted to.
  • If you reply 'Yes' to the reserve, but not to the admitted programme you will only be considered for the reserve programme in the second round. There is no guarantee you will be offered a place and if you are not, the programme in which you were admitted and replied 'No' to will have been deleted. You will therefore have no programmes you've been admitted to.
  • If you reply 'No' to the reserve and 'Yes' to the admitted programme, you will still have your admitted place after the second round but will not be considered for the programme in which you've been placed on reserve. That programme will be deleted after your reply.

You must answer yes to any courses/programmes you wish to keep going into the second selection. If you're no longer interested in a reserve place, answer no.

If you've applied for the Second round and were placed on reserve (waiting list) on a higher ranked choice, and offered a place in a lower ranked choice, you can reply to your notification in a few different ways, with different results:

  • If you reply 'Yes' to both the reserve and admitted selections, you will hold your admitted place for the second selection where you will be considered again for a place in the programme you've been placed on reserve.

Have you applied for the First round?

Applicants to the First round only receive one admissions notification. You do not need to reply 'Yes' to courses and programmes to keep your place. You should, however, be sure to decline any places you don't wish to keep in order to let the university know you won't be attending and free up your place for someone else on the waiting list.

If you applied for the Second round

It's very important. After you receive your first notification of selection results, you must reply to your offer – and answer yes – to the courses and programmes that you'd like to keep your place in. Be sure to do this before the deadline.

See Key dates for information on when you need to reply.

By answering yes, you keep your place for the second selection. If you don't answer yes, this will indicate that you do not wish to accept your place in the course and it will be offered to someone else.

The same applies to courses and programmes you've been placed on a waiting list (reserve) for. If you wish to be considered in the second selection, you must answer 'Yes' to reserve places. Otherwise, your waiting list place will be deleted.

You'll receive a second notification of selection results (admission results) with the results of the second selection. This one you won't need to reply to.

If you applied for the First round

Applicants receive only one notification of selection results - admissions results - when they've applied for the first round. You do not need to reply to your offer in order to keep your place. However, it's important that you decline any places you don't wish to keep. This will let the university know you won't be attending, and also free the place for someone on the waiting list. Please note that the university may contact you with a deadline for your reply - be sure to follow their instructions.

If you wish to withdraw from a course you've already started attending - even if it's just the first meeting - you should contact the university and let them know. You can't withdraw by declining here on Universityadmissions.se.
